DUSTIN'S PAST
What exactly made Dustin the inspiration he is today?
Meningitis, actually.
When Dustin was five years old he suffered from a severe case of meningitis, which put him in the hospital for three months. He passed three times but he had the strength and determination to pull through. These two characteristics seem to be an ongoing thing, as we still see them in him today with all he has accomplished.
Everything comes at a price, however. The price of living for Dustin: No arms and no legs... but it doesn't hold him back. Not at all. "I don't see myself as handicapped. I see myself as the same as everyone else." Dustin says. "If someone offered me my arms and legs back I would tell them no. I've grown up this way and I like the way I am."
His dad says he used to be a heck of a baseball player.
